Schools get creative to share the Christmas Story

St Mary's Church in West Chiltington is inviting local primary schools and the community to get creative and participate in a heartwarming Christmas Crib exhibition. This engaging event promises to be a delightful way to celebrate the festive season while bringing the Christmas story to life for children.

The Nativity Exhibition will run from Thursday, November 28th to Saturday, November 30th, from 10am to 4pm daily. The highlight of the event will be a special service led by Bishop Ruth on Thursday, November 28th at 11am. Father Stephen Merriman has extended a warm invitation to local primary schools to join in this joyous celebration, encouraging them to send a group of children to the special service.

How Schools Can Participate

Each year group is invited to create their own unique Christmas crib display, with sizes ranging from as small as a shoebox to a maximum of 1 meter square. Cribs will be collected from schools on the Tuesday or Wednesday before the exhibition and returned the following week. Fr Stephen Merriman emphasizes how simple and enjoyable it is for schools to take part: "I shall be very happy to come to your school to lead an assembly on the Christmas Crib or visit a class." This personal touch ensures that children fully understand and appreciate the significance of their creations.
